Tapachula, Chiapas (Mexico) - A total of 141 earthquakes were recorded in Mexico in the first 15 days of the year, where the Chiapas region remains the most seismically active: 59 earthquakes, or nearly 4 per day.
Based on data from the National Seismological Service (SSN), there is a significant increase of earthquakes at the national level, after the first two weeks.
Suffice it to say that throughout the month of December had reached the 117 earthquakes in the country.
As for the region Chiapas, in the first half of December there were "only" 36 earthquakes of the first period against the 59 of January 2011.
So far, the civil protection authorities of the State of Chiapas have reported no significant loss or damage caused by these earthquakes. But the mystery remains as have not been made official reports on the causes of the increases in the number of earthquakes in the country, especially in Chiapas.
